Two years into the pandemic, a surprising number of people are still stuck working remotely either part- or full-time. After so many months, it’s easy to throw up your hands and dismiss the idea altogether. Working in your pajamas is only fun the first few (dozen) times. But there’s a reason (besides the obvious health risks) many employers have chosen to stick with a hybrid workplace. Sometimes the ability to work behind a computer is more freeing than confining. Here’s a few ways working in a remote marketing environment isn’t necessarily so bad.

Convenience

Zoom conferences are par for the course these days, but virtual meetings aren’t as new as you’d expect. Holding conferences over video or phone call is a tried and true option for companies that employ individuals across a wide area. There’s no need to limit personnel location to one small area anymore, and that means customer bases have grown exponentially as well. With online shopping and delivery growing more popular by the day, it’s entirely feasible to expand a business’s network across the country– or even the world. It’s a lot easier to schedule weekly meetings with a supplier on the opposite coast when both parties are equipped to communicate via video call.

Convenience is about timing as well as location. Working online cuts down on travel time from place to place, even if only a half hour or so is saved every day. That extra time adds up quickly. It’s also incredibly helpful to have access to a workspace at any time of day or night, especially if your customer base is located in another time zone. Any last-minute complications that pop up can be dealt with, whether they come up when you’re in the office or about to sit down at the dinner table.

A Whole New (Virtual) World

Society is changing, and marketing changes with it. As more day-to-day operations move to online platforms, new programs, services, and advertising opportunities are created. There’s no better way to connect with an audience than by remaining relevant. Concentrating on digital advertising matches the high-paced nature of online environments. New technology is constantly expanding, and working online allows marketers to keep up with an ever-evolving field.

Working in a hybrid capacity– part time in a physical office space, part time online/from home– also affords you the best of both worlds. This type of schedule allows you to prioritize certain tasks that suit one environment over the other. Some days can be spent wholly on in-person, hands-on duties while others can be used to catch up on meetings and computer work. Dividing time in this way is a great method to increase efficiency.
